About Us

Although relatively new to the hi-line, established in 2020, our family has over 110 years in pork production on the same farm back in southern Michigan. The farm was established by Gary’s great, great grandfather Charles in 1911.

While the majority of our family's history has been focused on commercial breeding and production, the past 20 years has been primarily a wean to finish operations, shipping more than 20,000 head per year.

Myra, Clara, Layla and the family here in Ledger started out with 2 bred gilts that came from back east in 2021, as a means to anchor and build a new herd. Myra’s vision is to utilize a faster growing, more feed efficient genetics combined with amazing meat quality, and best case mothering ability. She has achieved that with a three way cross of Duroc/Spot/Berkshire. Her most successful genetic cross is a Berkshire/ Spot f-1 crossed female bred with duroc boar.

Our family is currently upgrading the hog facilities in anticipation of growth and to provide better environments for the animals. The new farrowing (birthing unit) barn exceeds the strict California prop-12 guidelines by almost a decade; this is accomplished by utilizing European naturally raised production methods.

Clara enjoys hosting tours for local 4-H groups and FFA chapters. Our newly remodeled farrowing barn has an educational room for viewing of litters being born. The public can also schedule tours. 

As we enter 2024 our grandson Charles represents the seventh generation of Blondes engaged in pork production, just like his great, great, great, great grandfather Charles Blonde.
